Vacancy Short Description : Wymondham College are seeking a Horticulture Apprentice to assist and support the team with a variety of Grounds Maintenance related tasks.

 

Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 2. Evidence of qualifications will be required.
Agreement to work towards Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy skills must be evident along with a commitment to learning all aspects of ground maintenance.

A College Interview and assessment may be requested.
Vacancy Full Description : Wymondham College are seeking a Horticulture Apprentice to assist and support the team with a variety of Grounds Maintenance related tasks. The Horticulture Apprentice will, under supervision, support a small team in delivering a high standard of grounds maintenance throughout the year. This is a two year fixed term developmental role and the postholder will be expected to complete the Level 2 Diploma in work based Horticulture delivered by Easton and Otley College. A full time permanent post with progression to Level 3 may be available from September 2020 onwards.


This is an integral post and the ideal candidate will possess strong teamworking skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff and have a keen interest to develop a career in Grounds Maintenance and educational setting.

JOB SPECIFICATION

General Responsibilities

The Horticulture Apprentice will work with a small team of other grounds staff to provide a high standard of grounds maintenance at Wymondham College. The post offers an opportunity to develop skills and experience in grounds and estate maintenance.

Training to be Provided : Qualification: Horticulture Apprenticeship Level 2
College Attendance: NONE
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st April 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Apprentices need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in the industry with a contract of employment
