Vacancy Short Description : General gardening assistant, work ranges from mowing lawns to landscape work, and hoeing and planting to fence building. We also do tree work.

 

Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 2. Evidence of qualifications will be required.
Vacancy Full Description : We are expanding the business and are therefore looking for an apprentice to come in and learn the trade from the bottom up, to help maintain our increasing workload. We can offer someone the opportunity to learn a great deal about professional gardening work. You will work with myself (the owner) and my Supervisor Louie and Laura our newest member of the team. We work in all weathers, and no two days are ever the same but we believe that we have created a fun working environment, and work well as a team, taking pride in our work.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 30 hours a week. Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (variable)
Salary : £135.00 Per Week

Future Prospects : If an apprentice works hard and proves to be a valuable member of the team, then a full-time role may be offered at the end of the apprenticeship.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Intermediate Apprenticeship In Horticulture
College Attendance: No regular attendance
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition, the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st April 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Apprentices need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in the industry with a contract of employment

Working Week: 30 hours a week. Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (variable)
Due to seasonal nature of the work, time off last minute may be taken during winter months, and either taken as holiday or unpaid leave. Working hours are often shorter during winter, which does then mean that you may work slightly later during the spring and summer months to compensate.
15 min breaks are taken between jobs, and half an hour for lunch.
