Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. You will initially be invited in for a college interview.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 2. Evidence of qualifications will be required. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.

MAIN PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You are responsible for the up keep of all plants this will involve feeding, watering, deadheading, pest control and top dressing along with keeping the plant area well presented, tidy and restocked.
You will need to give our customers advice in choosing the correct plant(s) for their requirements along with giving them support on design of borders and the best way to keep their plants healthy.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 5 working days total paid hours 37.5 with half hour lunch break
Salary : £225.00 Per Week

Future Prospects : We are looking at this position growing into assistant plant area manager once the apprenticeship is complete with an hourly rate of £8.50
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Intermediate apprenticeship in Horticulture Level 2
College Attendance: No regular college attendance at present
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st April 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: Working 37 ½ hours per week usual working day will be 9-5 however your starting and finishing time may vary, the business does not operate in the evening but on an occasion may call upon your support.
