Vacancy Short Description : A fantastic opportunity to begin a career in agriculture with a long established and reputable arable crop producing farm. Applications welcome for either immediate start of for those available after completion of current studies.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 3. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
Vacancy Full Description : Your duties will include but not be limited to the following
• Cultivate sites
• Plant crops
• Maintain the healthy growth of crops
• Transport harvested crops
• Prepare and operate a tractor
• Health and Safety
• Bio Security and personal hygiene
• Maintain equipment and machinery
• Estate Maintenance tasks including: Tree & hedge work, Ditching, Sweeping.

Working Week : 39 hrs p.w. days/times tbc
Salary : £195.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : You will need to be flexible on your working week. Depending on the season hours as well as start and finish times will be variable. You will be looking to develop a career in agriculture to at least craftsman status. This will require you to be genuinely interested in developing all skills necessary to achieve this position.
Skills Required : For this role there will be the need to work across the multiple locations that the business farms. Therefore a driving licence is essential.
Future Prospects : For the right candidate who is flexible on their hours, hardworking with a willingness to learn the long term prospects are excellent.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Level 2 Agriculture (Arable)
College Attendance: Block release approximately 1 week in 6 at either the Easton or Otley Campus.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour with effect from 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: 39 Hours, Monday to Friday.
